It's Time to Feel Young Again!

Middle-aged??? What does that term even mean? Is that mid 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s? Can it even be defined by an age or is it better defined by how your body feels?

Most people who are middle aged feel way older than they should.  Believe it or not, there are a lucky some who feel young for most of their 40's and 50's. How old you feel mainly depends on how your muscles and joints feel.  It doesn’t matter if you are 20 years old, 40 year old, years old, or 70, if you have limited range of motion, if you have nagging pains, and if you don’t have the ability to perform basic human movements, then we can throw you in the “You’re Old” category.  On the other hand, if you are strong, fit, pain-free, and have adequate flexibility and mobility, I guarantee you feel younger than your peers!  It is never too late to start feeling young again.

"Our understanding is that the needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree, not kind.  One needs functional competence to stay out of the nursing home. The other one wants functional dominance to win medals." -Greg Glassman, CrossFit CEO

At CrossFit City Limits we are a movement practice based around functional exercises that prepare us for the demands of real life. We want to be healthy, fit, and happy into our nineties. Studies suggest that fitness, leg strength, and mobility, especially the ability to rotate through the spine, are the leading indicators for how someone will live and when they will be put into a nursing home. In real life, we have to squat to toilets and chairs, we have to deadlift to pick thing up of the ground, and we have to know how to position our bodies in the most efficient positions to move our bodies throughout the day.  We want quality positions to become second nature to us and for that to simply become how we move.  This takes guidance and practice. At CrossFit City Limits, our exercise program prioritizes quality movement to give you a foundation of fitness and functional movement that will have dramatic impacts on your quality of life.  Young kids love it, but we consider ourselves the best exercise program in Austin for middle aged men and women too, regardless of your current fitness level or restrictions.

CrossFit is a general physical preparedness program meaning that our goal is to improve a wide range of are: stamina, strength, endurance, power, speed, flexibility, accuracy, coordination, balance, and agility.  By mixing the best of the weight training world, cardio worlds, and worlds of stretching, we provide a work-out experience that will change you inside and outside the gym. As adults, we lose the ability to perform certain movements and exercises because we have habitual and favored movements, and neglected or avoided movements for long periods of time. We have unresolved injuries and chronic problems that cause us to move in a compensated way.  When the average adult exercises with one or more limited fundamental patterns, the increased activity actually causes the compensation behavior to get worse.  We are able to identify these issues and get you back on the correct path.

At CrossFit City Limits we specialize in personal training and small group training sessions.  The goal in every session, is to provide proper scaling and modifications to fit your current fitness level in a way that will help you make progress towards your individual goals.

Simply put, we have the best exercise program to build your foundation so you can feel young again to live an active life!
